Divine Ikubor, professionally known as Rema, is one of Nigeria’s most genre-defying and globally recognized young artists. Born in 2000 in Benin City, Edo State, Rema burst into the music scene like a supernova—fusing Afrobeats, trap, Indian melodies, and pop into what he calls Afrorave, a bold subgenre that reflects his futuristic sound and cultural versatility.

Discovered by D’Prince and signed to Jonzing World (under Mavin Records) in 2019, Rema’s self-titled debut EP featured Iron Man, Dumebi, and Corny—songs that quickly established him as a boundary-pushing prodigy. Iron Man even made it onto Barack Obama’s summer playlist, catapulting him to global buzz almost overnight.

Rema’s artistry balances raw youthfulness with spiritual undertones. His debut album Rave & Roses (2022) showcased this duality, blending emotionally charged tracks like Calm Down and Addicted with high-energy hits like Soundgasm and Divine. The remix of Calm Down featuring Selena Gomez topped charts globally, becoming one of the most streamed Afrobeats songs of all time.

Known for his red dreadlocks, anime-inspired visuals, and cryptic lyrics, Rema embodies Gen Z expression and African futurism. He’s not just an artist—he’s a cultural phenomenon.
