President Tinubu Rewards Super Falcons After Historic WAFCON Victory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has handsomely rewarded the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their unforgettable triumph at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The team, who recently clinched their 10th WAFCON title, was honored at the Presidential Villa on Monday.

In recognition of their dedication, passion, and history-making performance, President Tinubu conferred on each of the 24 players:

• National Honours: Officer of the Order of Niger (OON)

• A 3-bedroom apartment

• A $100,000 cash reward each

Additionally, members of the technical crew were awarded $50,000 each.

This is in addition to the $1 million prize earlier received from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The final against Morocco began in dramatic fashion, with the home team leading 2–0 at halftime, thanks to goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy.

But Nigeria launched a stunning comeback:

• Esther Okoronkwo calmly slotted a penalty to make it 2–1.

• In the 71st minute, Folashade Ijamilusi brought the game level.

• Then, in the 88th minute, substitute Jennifer Echegini sealed the win with a composed finish, sending the stadium and Nigerian fans into an absolute frenzy.
